This and That.

I don't feel like I have too much to say, just the usual things.

It's been raining here for what feels like an eternity.  It's actually as close to storming as we get.  (I've lived here my whole life (minus a couple years) and I can count the number of times we've had thunder and lightning on one hand.  But we have high wind warnings all night.  And one of our wind chimes just blew down and shattered.  :(  The weather is not helping my depression, and is limiting the time we spend outside.

Aside from the weather, everyone is, or has been sick.  Aaron's 92 year old grandma got the flu, which is scary, because she's 92 (though, generally in good health).  As far as I know she had a flu shot, but got it anyway.  So she had a round of Tamaflu, and is on the mend.  But Aaron's folks are both sick.  Aaron was sick for most of last week.  I've been pretty healthy (knock on wood), just little things.  Bertie has been a little sick, but just with little things too.

My dad is remodeling his bathroom.  It is original to the house, and thus is very 70's.  (Who puts carpet in a bathroom?)  New and bigger shower, new vanities and sinks, new floor, and closet remodel.  I helped him choose stone and tile today.  He'll likely redo his kitchen within the next year.  He found a contractor he likes, so let the work begin!  I should take some before and after pictures.

Bertie has been really good the last few days.  He had a few poo accidents after my last post, but overall it doing really well.  We've been colouring a lot, as a family, after dinner.  I really enjoy that, I think we all do.  It makes me a happy mommy when he is a good listener, and isn't whiny.  Livin' the dream!  Also, when he naps, he and I nap together in my bed.  He's getting so big, but he's still my baby.  (I guess you always feel that way as a parent).

I started doing Bikini Body Mommy this week.  I only got to it four times.  But it's something.

One of our gnomes just blew over and broke.  Stupid wind!

Quick update

I'll just make a list, because I'm lazy.
  • I had a grouchy day.  Just a lot of little things, and Bertram being a bad listener.  Also, he had a week of perfect potty use, and then pooped in his pants today.  Ugh.  We are still making progress, it's just disappointing.  I do think it's cute, when I gush at him, and tell him I'm so proud of him.  Then he says I'm proud of you too Mommy. That kid.
  • He's really gotten into singing lately.  He especially likes the ABCs and the Finger Family song.
  • It has been raining for several days, and we still have several more.  It's making me a little stir crazy.  I don't think we do a lot of outdoor stuff (I really should do more), but it just makes everything harder.  It's cold, and dreary.  It's difficult to get in and out of the car quickly, and if we have to park far away, we'll get wet.  Besides that, the rain is really playing up my depression; which also makes it hard to leave the house, or do anything.
  • I started rereading Animal Farm.  I want to (re)read more classics.  I'm going to do 1984, Brave New World, and Fahrenheit 451 next.  Then I'll see where I go from there.  Hopefully I keep the momentum.  I'm not sure if it is motherhood, or technology that is ruining books for me.  I guess it could be both.
  • I made some progress at cleaning the house today.  I need to finish up the laundry, mop and clean the bathroom.

Various other things

  • We switched Bertie's room and the guest room around.  (Our house is weird, you have to walk through bedroom 2 (previously Bertie's room) to get to the master.)  Now that they are switched, we no longer have to sneak through his room at night, or around the back of the house. This is also good now that I work nights, because the dogs want the option of waiting in the front room, or sleeping in bedroom.
It took a couple nights for Bertram to adjust, as we knew it would.  But he's pretty excited about his new room, and wants to show everyone.
The set up is also better for both rooms in terms of flow.
His room is down, the guest room is close, which is good because mom is coming next week!
  • I'm still getting used to the night shift 4 days a week.  I think I need to take melatonin on the days I don't work, so I can sleep at a normal hour.
  • Fiona had a seizure last Sunday.  I stupidly took her to the vet.  They kept her over night, and ran some tests, but nothing was wrong, and it cost $500.  It was a long seizure.  And I was worried she'd have a stroke attached to it, like Diamond Jim did.  But all is well, so I just need to remember not to take her in next time.
  • I am ready to be done with my blue hair.  But my next hair appointment is 2+ weeks away, so I'll have to keep it a bit longer.
  • We were supposed to have major rain Friday-Sunday.  Maybe some other part of the bay area got some, but it is dry and windy here.  That's a bummer, we need it.

Bullets

  • The boy scout quilt that Aaron made sold at the charity auction for $195!!!
  • We're supposed to stop being in the freezing range tomorrow.  (I'm so ready!)
  • I had prenatal yoga tonight.  I'm still pretty flexible, but my belly is noticeably starting to get in the way.
  • I think we're going to try to make a registry for Mojo this week.  Maybe tomorrow, if Aaron doesn't have to work.  We're going to register at Target.
  • I keep trying to watch Survivor, and I keep hating it.
  • I've been getting pretty well caught up at work.
  • We still don't have a tree set up, and Christmas is two weeks away.  :-/
  • I was too tired today (and a little lightheaded) so I only took a short walk at lunch, and took a 40 minute nap.
  • I only got in 6500 steps.  :-(
  • 9pm, that means I need to get ready for bed.

A little blah blah

I had a dream about baby Mojo last night.  He was born now, but was somehow full term.  He was a beautiful little baby with a head full of light hair (now Aaron and I have both dreamed that Mojo has light hair(we, of course, both have dark hair, so it's not too likely)).  He was a good baby too, he was quiet, and a really good nurser.  And I had lots of milk!  He spat up a lot.  And I was totally inept.  I had no clue what I was doing, but he was so good, and lovable.  Exciting.

Aaron has been sick since Sunday.  He got in to see the doctor today.  I guess he has something akin to bronchitis.  So he gets some antibiotics, and is probably not contagious anymore.  (Yay!)

Because he's been sick, I've been sleeping in our room, and he's in the guest bed.  Zelda sleeps with me (in her bed, on the floor), and Yoie starts with Aaron and ends up with me.  Aaron usually takes care of Zelda in the night.  In the winter, Zelda has to be tucked in.  And when she moves around and becomes uncovered she wakes up and starts whining.  Tuesday night she woke me up four times!  Plus waking up to have to pee, it was a restless night.  Last night, I got one of the king sized comforters, and covered her and tucked it in.  She only woke up twice.  So I got a better night's sleep.

We got two packages today, both were for me.  I had to peak in one, since I'm ordering stuff from different places too.  (Sorry Mom!  But I didn't open it).

It was so cold today!  My windshield was frozen for the second day in a row.  I'm not sure we got to 50 here (which is very cold for us).  When I went on my lunch walk (at 1:15) there were frozen edges on some puddles.  Crazy.

I had a couple work meetings today.  Everything went well, so I'm feeling a little less stressed.  And we did a little more planning for my maternity leave, and return.

They started removal of our neighbour's giant camphor tree today.  I'm glad this is happening.  It's been a big annoyance.  It drops leaves all year long (which clog our gutters).  It ruined our driveway, and would eventually mess up the foundation of our house.  The big stump is still there, it's going to be worked on tomorrow.

I really hate toilet paper commercials, especially the ones with the bears.  Eww, I don't need to hear about how strong your toilet paper is!  I mean, really.  How hard are you wiping your ass?  Yuck.
